| Origin |
Originating in Germany, this
breed is a descendent of the Italian Mastiff. They were bred in Rottweil
in Wurttemberg and were mainly used as watchdogs, guard dogs and police
dogs. |
| Description |
This intelligent, loyal breed
is extremely protective of his family and property and makes an excellent
watchdog/guard dog. They can do well with children, other dogs and pets,
but early socialization is a must or they can become aggressive and territorial.
Early training is highly recommended or they can become practically impossible
to train because they can have dominance issues. They need to know who
is the master of the house. They need plenty of exercise and play. They
are not meant to be kept inside all the time. When outside, they should
be in a secured yard as they can be territorial. They are extremely wary
of strangers. |
