Origin
The Spitz ancestors of the Finnish
Lapphund Breed are believed to date back as far as 7000 BC. They are one
of three Laphund breeds that originated from the Spitzes in the Scandinavian
Region. Originally used for hunting and guarding, they are now mainly
used to herd reindeer.
Description
This gentle, friendly, loyal
breed makes an excellent family pet. They are good with children and other
dogs and pets. They are considered to be very sociable dogs and love to
be with their owners. They are fairly easy to train. The Finnish Lapphund
requires regular exercise and play and is not meant to be cooped up in
a house all day. Probably not an ideal apartment pet as they love the
outdoors.
Health
A very healthy breed. Minor problems
with hip displaysia.
