| Origin |
Named after the town of Entlebuch
in Lucerne Switzerland, this particular breed of Swiss Mountain Dog dates
back to the 1800s. Franz Schertenleib, Professor Albert Heim and Dr. B
Kobler have all played a part in breeding the Entlebucher Mountain Dog
and helping it keep it's popularity. |
| Description |
This energetic, intelligent breed
loves to play and get plenty of excercise. Bred for herding sheep, the
Entlebucher Mountain Dog makes an excellent farm pet as well family pet.
They make excellent watchdogs. They can be good with children and other
dogs and pets, particularly when socialized at a young age. Because of
their herding instincts, they might try to herd, chase and nip at children,
animals, their masters and moving objects. They need regular exercise
and room to roam. They are not meant to be locked inside all day long
as they can get bored and when they get bored they tend to get into things
and tear things up. Keep plenty of toys around. |
