| Origin |
Originating in Renaissance-era
Great Britain, the English Toy Spaniel was bred mainly as a companion
dog for royalty. They are also known as the King Charles Spaniel as King
Charles II was fond of the breed. In the 1800s, the English Toy Spaniel
was bred smaller and also underwent facial characteristic changes during
this breeding. |
| Description |
This intelligent, affectionate
sensitive breed was meant to be a companion dog and therefore makes an
excellent family pet. They can do well with children provided the children
are mature or will be gentle with the dog so as to not cause the dog to
be timid. They generally do well with other pets and dogs. They crave
companionship and lap time and are not meant to be left alone all the
time. Although they are not an overenergetic breed, they do need regular
play time. Because they are small and tend to be calm, they can do well
as apartment dogs. |
