| Origin | The Beauceron dates back to the 16th century in France. They are also known as Berger de Beuce and Bas Rouge (Red Stocking) for the markings on their legs. They were bred to herd sheep. They are easy to train and were used during the two world wars to do things such as detect mines and find the wounded. They are also used as guard dogs and police dogs. |
| Description | An excellent watchdog, the Beauceron is a great protector and loyal to his family. He is easily trained and will follow his master’s commands. Early training is recommended. He can be good with children and other pets, but does best when he is raised with them as a puppy. This is a large dog and requires plenty of space to exercise. They are energetic and are not meant to be kept indoors all day. |
